‘Brat and totally different but also brat’ is finally here

As Brat summer turned into fall, the endless references to Charli XCX’s inevitable album seemed to come to a halt. But yesterday the English pop star came in Brat in the fall at a public listening party for his remix album Brat and totally different but still brat. Out today, it features everyone from Ariana Grande to Caroline Polacheck to Tinashe.

As a result of BratAn extreme cultural influence, the remix album has had many talks and inspiring conversations and jokes on the internet. One fan wrote, “pressing play on this after months of teasing is how I imagine it felt when men looked at pictures of their wives in their wallets while they were out fighting.”

In addition to previously released remixes of “Guess” and “Girl, so confusing” featuring Billie Eilish and Lorde, respectively, Brat and totally different but still brat a real remix album. Each song is completely transformed by the featured artists who all have the creative vision of Charli XCX in charge.
However, some listeners argued that the album was “completely different” and caused the old rift between new and old fans. Another X user said, “how I like it when the remixes are real remixes and not just a feature but in brat’s case… bring back the old songs Jesus of Nazareth.” The fan responded to his fans and said, “Some people completely ignore the ‘and completely different’ part of the album title.” Another said, “at least we’re getting rid of the basic pop fans who were there for this trend.”

So far the most talked about song on the remix album is “Sympathy is a knife featuring Ariana Grande.” Before the show, people joked that Grande was going to take the stage and sing, “issa knife.” Fans are shocked and happy to hear that he actually did it. Always savvy on social media, Charli XCX posted a link to a new text generator with an image that reads “bring the knife” back.

Since the album has so many artists, it has something for everyone. There are people swearing at the bb tricks on “Club Classics,” Julian Casablancas laughing at the fact that he was able to sing about his divorce on the band’s album, and longtime fans celebrating Charli XCX and Tinashe’s breakthrough after such a long career.

Before the remix album comes out, Charli XCX held a special listening party…at 3pm on Thursday in upstate New York. Dubbed “Coachella for the unemployed” and “the ultimate test of who has a fake job,” photos of the event surfaced. Another X user wrote, “why does this look like a movie where people are killed in a plot in rural Sweden.” Another captioned a fan video of Charli XCX at the event, “Not a phone in sight. Just people for now.”
