Boxing Results: Murodjon Akhmadaliev Stops Ricardo Espinoza, Wins WBA Interim Super Bantamweight Title

Former IBF & WBA World Super Bantam Champion Murodjon ‘MJ’ Akhmadaliev (13-1, 10 KOs) stopped Ricardo Espinoza (30-5, 25 KOs) in the third round, scoring three knockdowns to win the interim title -WBA 122-lb Saturday night at Le Casino in Salle des Etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco.

In the main event, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Akhmadaliev knocked out Espinoza in the third round of 12 rounds to claim the WBA interim belt. The stoppage time was 2:59 in the third.

In the first round, returning after a year, Akhmadaliev had a small landing from the south of the left foot to the chin of Espinoza. Both were hitting hard shots in the second round. In the third round, at half point, Akhmadaliev landed a sharp left to the chin, scoring 8 points for referee Jean Robert Laine.

With one minute left, Akhmadaliev landed a left, and as he backed up, Espinoza fell forward to the canvas for the second win and the 8 count. In the final seconds, Akhmadaliev’s left took Espinoza down for the third time, and referee Laine waved it off.

2020 Olympian southpaw Cheavon ‘C4’ Clarke (10-1, 7 KOs) lost a 12-round decision to EBU Silver champion Leonardo ‘The King’ Mosquea (16-0, 9 KOs) in a title fight of the EBU cruiserweight that was vacant. . ). Mosquea knocked out Clarke, 34, in the first round.

In the first round, Mosquea landed twelve unanswered punches after forty seconds and dropped Clarke by 8 counts by referee Jon Lona Fernandez. In the second and third rounds, Clarke made a strong comeback, taking two close rounds in a slugfest. In the fourth round, Mosquea made a strong comeback, taking the round.

In rounds six through nine, it went back and forth, landing bombs from both fighters. In the tenth round, Clarke had his best round. This 12 player should be 10.

In the eleventh round, Clarke landed a solid jab as Mosquea was tired. In the twelfth and final round, Clarke used Mosquea in a close and beautiful fight between the two undefeated fighters.

The scores were 117-113 for Clarke, 116-112, and 115-112 for Mosquera.

#5 WBA lightweight contender Gary Cully (18-2, 10 KOs) lost to former IBO World Lightweight southpaw champion Maxi Hughes (28-7-2, 6 KOs) by unanimous decision over 10 rounds. Cully injured his right eye in the fifth round and had to deal with bleeding in the second round.

The first three rounds were all played with both paws. Using his reach, the especially tall Cully lands his jab while Hughes comes in, landing both limited hands. Cully starts going to the body in the fourth round, and Hughes counters.

In the fifth round, it was all Hughes with lefts to the chin, rocking Cully a few times. In the sixth round, after half a minute, Cully was badly hit on his right eyebrow. By the end of the round, his face was covered in blood. The referee advised Cully that another round of the same kind could be stopped.

In the seventh round, Hughes had two minutes to reopen the cut. In the eighth round, after half a round, Hughes took out Cully’s mouth. In the ninth round, Hughes knocked Culy out two to one.

In the tenth and final round, Hughes may have opened the stick. Give Cully credit for going the distance with five rough cuts.

The referee was Mikeal Hook. The scores are 100-90, 100-90, and 100-90.

IBF World Light Champion, Two-time Olympian, and 2024 Silver Medalist Beatriz ‘The Beast’ Ferreira (6-0 (2 KOs) opened the gate against former EBU champion Licia Boudersa (23 -3-2, 4 KOs) over 10× 2 rounds.

In the first round referee Diana Drews Milani warned Boudersa twice for holding and using his head, but Ferreira easily won the round. Ferreira used the right uppercut from the second to the seventh round, taking the rest of the round and bleeding from the nose in the sixth round.

In the eighth round, referee Milani warned Ferreira for hitting on the break. Frustrated, Ferreira was attacked with a powerful body, and it took another round. Ferreira drove Boudersa to the ropes in the ninth round as Boudersa’s corner was ready to throw in the towel. Ferreira withered in the tenth and final round, landing a southpaw and punishingly hard.

The scores were 100-90, 100-90, and 100-90.

2024 Heavyweight Olympian Tevero Terremoana Jr (5-0, 5 KOs) stopped Volodymyr Katsuk (5-2, 2 KOs) at 2:04 of the first round of a scheduled six-rounder.

In the first round, a combination from Terremoana to the chin dropped Katsuk by 8 counts by referee Jean Robert Laine one minute into the round. Soon after this, he went down again a second time. After the third blow, referee Laine stopped everything in the first round.
