Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan is recovering from surgery after suffering multiple stab wounds in an alleged attack at his home in Mumbai.
The popular actor, 54, suffered at least six stab wounds, including one near the spine, during what his gang described as a robbery attempt in Mumbai’s Bandra area early Thursday, January 16, according to news agency ANI.
Dr. Nitin Dange of the Lilavati hospital, where Khan was treated, told the media that the actor “suffered severe injuries to the thoracic spine as a result of a knife being inserted into the spine,” the BBC reported.
“Surgery was performed and the knife was removed and the spinal fluid leak was repaired. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and one on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team,” added Dange.
Khan’s team told ANI in a statement that, “Saif Ali Khan is out of surgery and is in danger. He is currently recovering and doctors are monitoring his progress. All the family members are safe and the police are investigating the incident.”

Mumbai deputy commissioner of police Dixit Gedam he said the attack is under investigation and a city-wide search is underway.
“One of the accused has been identified, but he has not been arrested and was on the run,” said Gedam, on Sky News. “He entered the house to escape the fire and entered the stairs. We are also looking for others involved in this incident. Our police teams are now crossing the city of Mumbai and have gone beyond the city limits.”
Khan is married to a fellow Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor. The couple has two children, Taimur, 8, and Jeh, 4.
“There was an attempt to break into Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s place last night. Saif injured his arm and is in the hospital, undergoing surgery. The whole family is doing well.
