Bohachuk Vs Davis: Title Decider For Oushine Fury-Usyk 2
Tonight’s DAZN PPV fight between Serhii Bohachuk and Ishmael Davis has a very good chance to steal the match from Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk 2 rematch of the main event at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Bohachuk-Davis: Steal the show?
The former WBC interim junior middleweight champion, Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs), engaged in what many believe was the fight of the year in his last bout against Vergil Ortiz Jr. on August 10. Bohachuk knows one way to fight: to attack without stopping. In contrast, the Fury-Usyk 2 headliner may end up being a chess game and lacking in drama.
To save the card, Bohachuk and Davis will need to bring excitement to the fans who order the event live on DAZN PPV. The undercard is absolutely terrifying, too this IS the only good fight without a major event. That might not be good if Fury wrestles like a bear and Usyk boxes. Bohachuk-Davis will be a real fight, and there is guaranteed to be a blowout.
Davis Upset Bohachuk?
Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs) will fight hard, knowing this is his biggest chance to continue being counted on Turki Alalshikh’s cards. He knows that if he wins this match against Bohachuk, it will give him another good day to lead.
Bohachuk vs. Davis is the clincher for the WBC 154-lb title. The winner will be a must for champion Sebastian Fundora. However, they may not get a title shot against anyone who holds the WBC belt because Fundora has a fight expected to happen with Errol Spence Jr. in early 2025, and he may choose to face interim champion Vergil Ortiz Jr.
Regardless, whoever emerges victorious in tonight’s fight between Bohachuk and Davis will ultimately have a shot at the world title, either in 2025 or 2026.
“I have a feeling this one will go in the first round. Bohachuk will pick up where he left off when he fought Vergil Ortiz [on August 10th]. That was probably the fight of the year. That was good,” said Ade Oladipo speaking to DAZN Boxing, talking about Serhii Bohachuk on the scale of his fight that will take place on Saturday night against Ishmael Davis.
Bohachuk will force Ishmael to fight harder than usual because he will be beaten down the entire fight. Davis uses a three-step takedown after throwing a shot or during a takedown, but that method won’t work against Bohachuk because he’ll be crossing the ring, forcing him to scramble.
The usual dive and clinch that Davis uses won’t work well if he tries that tactic tonight because Bohachuk is good at hitting opponents when they try to catch him. He can even fight while imprisoned. Davis may not last long if he chooses a different strategy in this fight. Again, this is an important fight for Davis, and he has to go all out if he wants to win. He won’t win by outboxing Bohachuk. That’s what he said he would try.
Bohachuk Favored
“It is still the WBC qualifiers. This is one of the easy choices. Many people think that Bohachuk beat Vergil Ortiz. I like Bohachuk in this fight,” said Dan Rafael to BetUs. “He won 24 of them and 23 of them from the competition. The only guy who went the distance with him was Vergil Ortiz.
“He lost by a landslide a few years ago [against Brandon Adams on March 4, 2021]. Bohachuk wins this fight. I think he knocks out his opponent [Davis]. I think he wins. I think he will show his stuff and put himself in a position to fight for the title.
“Although I give a lot of credit to Ishmael for taking this fight so quickly and he is well compensated for it, I like Bohachuk in this fight.”
Davis is fortunate to not only get a fight after a 12-round decision loss to Josh Kelly on Sept. 21 but also to fight for the WBC 154-lb title. If he can win this fight, he will fight for the world title and get a seven-man payday.
“Ishmael Davis took this fight in a very short time. I think it’s 10 days, if that. He is a British hero. You have one loss. He is not a great striker. There are no big-time wins on his record or medium-size wins on his record. I’m not saying he’s not good, but he’s never done it before. He doesn’t have much power to squeeze, and he takes the fight quickly,” said Rafael.
