Beterbiev Looked Angry During Press Conference
Artur Beterbiev appeared angry during today’s press conference ahead of his Rihyadh Season undisputed light heavyweight title fight with Dmitry Bivol on October 12. Also likely to feature the IBF, WBC, and WBO 175-lb champion Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) in a bad situation is that it is his time to speak during the press conference.
The commentator said to him, “I know you’re a man of few words,” and quickly moved on after letting Beterbiev answer the question. You could tell by the look on Beterbiev’s face that he was not happy about not being able to talk more about such an important battle. He should have been given more opportunity to speak rather than being dismissed with ‘someone who speaks a few words’.
This event should be about Beterbiev and Bivol, not the undercard fighters, who seemed to be given more time during the press conference than the two 175-lb. The undercard is full of fighters who are nowhere near world class except for the women’s bout.
“My coach tells me that I can tell the details,” said Beterbiev speaking at Stomping Grounds about his coach not wanting to reveal his plan for his fight with Dmitry Bivol on October 12. “Right now, it’s my dream fight, all my fight is Dmitry Bivol now. After that, we will think, and we will see [who comes next].
“When Canelo Alvarez had one belt [WBO 175-lb title] In my class, at that time, I wanted to fight him, but now, I don’t think so. It’s not fun to fight him,” said Beterbiev when asked if he would like to fight Canelo. “Yes,” Beterbiev said when asked if titles were the most important thing to him.
“All my previous fights I don’t predict. I am not a forecaster. I’m just a boxer, and I do my job the best I can. I will do my best,” said Beterbiev.
