OpenAI staff reportedly ‘shocked’ by ‘ugly’ logo redesign
OpenAI may be undergoing major changes next year, including getting a brand new logo. In accordance with Good luckhowever, employees were not happy when they got a glimpse of its supposed new logo at a recent company-wide meeting. The company’s four-sided flower logo, which has become prominent due to the popularity of ChatGPT, is gone. Instead, it’s been replaced with a big black “O” or a simple ring or circle that the crew is reportedly clueless about – scary, even.
Based on how the publication’s sources described it, the new logo sounds completely different from OpenAI’s current one, which was designed to represent “accuracy, power and hope.” The company apparently began its redesign efforts last year after hiring new people to its internal innovation and design team. Good luck says that one of the reasons OpenAI wanted a new look is because it doesn’t have the typefaces used for its logo and website. The company, perhaps, is looking to strengthen its identity as it becomes a household name.
Good luck and previously reported that OpenAI is changing its not-for-profit corporate structure next year. The company started as a non-profit, and the non-profit still manages its for-profit arm. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, reportedly told employees that the company is moving away from its non-profit design and becoming a mainstream for-profit company. If OpenAI’s leaders listen to staff feedback, however, the new OpenAI will release another logo and not one that even its own people consider ugly.
