Steph Curry’s Definitive Response to Beating Boston

Steph Curry is not too impressed after defeating defending champion Boston and going 7-1 this season.

Many had already discounted the Dubs before the season started, after they lost Klay Thompson in the summer and seemed to have no way.

But boy were they wrong.

Buddy Hield has been a great replacement for Klay and fits into the rotation like a glove. He hit a go-ahead wide-open 3-pointer with 47.2 seconds left to play against the Celtics.

Hield, along with Steph, provide a much-needed offensive, and defensive spark for the Dubs, which was on full display Wednesday when they put the hell out of a Celtics lineup and held them to just 40 points in the first half.

But Steph remains pragmatic.

“We haven’t done anything yet,” Curry said. “A good team, or the right team, wins the games it should win, steals a couple when it plays against teams that play well and defends the home field. We’ve done those things so far, but we have two more games on this road trip – two tough tests. …

“I like where we are, obviously, but there’s still a long way to go.”

Steph added, “It was a great test. We didn’t do anything bad, but it was good.”

Hield also gave a more moderate response to the win, but was clearly happy with the way the team is headed.

“It’s a statement,” Hield said. “If we don’t win this game, everybody’s like, ‘Oh, they didn’t play anybody.’ So you have to make a statement on the road, right? That’s how the basketball world talks. They say that if you have not played anyone, you are tested by the war, see if it is true.”

Head coach Steve Kerr admitted after the win that the C’s weren’t strong, but he was happy with the W nonetheless.

“Boston obviously didn’t have Jaylen Brown again [Kristaps] Porzingis, so this isn’t their best type of team,” Kerr said, “but they’re still pretty good. It’s a hell of a win in a tough spot.”

Golden State’s defense now ranks second in the NBA behind the Thunder (allowing 103.5 points per 100 possessions).
