American Airlines confirms that espressos are back — and added to business class, too
American Airlines has confirmed to TPG that one of our favorite Flagship First perks is back — and it’s starting to roll out to Flagship Business, too.
Espresso drinks are back on some American Airlines flights.
Passengers can now request special coffee drinks made from a real espresso machine on some of AA’s international flights and on the best airlines. This news was first tagged on X by @xJonNYC and reported by One Mile at the time.
The airline is offering espresso drinks on a Boeing 777-200 flight for the first time. Traditionally, American Airlines offers espresso drinks only in the first class cabins of its Airbus A321T and Boeing 777-300ER jets, which are equipped with both Flagship First and Flagship Business seats. It offers drinks from pod espresso machines on most flights and for many additional passengers.
Espressos are also now available on American Boeing 787s.
The airline suspended espresso service during the COVID-19 crisis and had not served business class passengers before. Now on Boeing 777-200, Boeing 777-300, 787 and A321T aircraft; it’s available in business class, too.

The ability to order a strong shot of caffeine was one of my favorite features of the first class. So, I’m very happy that now I’ll be able to do it in business class, too.
It’s great to see more service touches being added as we anticipate new cabins coming from American soon. The airline is removing its first-class cabin for a modified business-class cabin – which will increase the number of premium seats – on all Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Soon it will also be delivered Airbus A321XLRs with new Flagship Business cabins.
