Airlines to launch new flights from Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda: CMO

In a bid to boost Odisha’s economic development, some airlines have agreed to launch new flights from Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports, the Chief Minister’s Office said on Friday. New flights are expected from Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar and Vir Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda.

“The communication system is being strengthened. The path of progress is increasing. Direct flights will start from Bhubaneswar Biju Patnaik International Airport to Indore, Dehradun, Kochi, Jaipur, Lucknow and Jharsuguda Vir Surendra Sai Airport to Hyderabad, Raipur, Lucknow, Mumbai. It will provide a new direction in the economic development of the state,” said the CMO in a post to X.

The CMO said the newly approved Odisha New Airport Policy has encouraged airlines to launch new flights from Bhubaneswar and Jharsuguda airports.

“This improved connectivity is set to significantly boost trade and tourism across the country,” the CMO said.

Additionally, the availability of cargo from these airlines will give a strong boost to the growth of agricultural production.
