Air India flight makes emergency landing in Canada due to bomb threat: officials

An Air India flight en route to Chicago was forced to land in the remote Canadian city on Monday due to a bomb threat, officials said.
According to information provided by FlightAware, the flight departed from Delhi and arrived at Iqaluit International Airport in Iqaluit, Canada, around 5:30 am on Tuesday morning. Iqaluit is the capital of the Nunavut territory.
A spokesperson for Iqaluit International Airport told Nuvanut News that “an unspecified bomb threat from an Indian person to Air India” prompted the emergency stop. When the pilot realized this threat, the plane prepared to land in Iqaluit.
Air India confirmed the incident in a post on Tuesday.

“Flight Al127 operating from Delhi to Chicago on October 15, 2024, had a security risk that was posted online and, as a precaution, has arrived at Iqaluit Airport in Canada,” the company’s statement read.
“The aircraft and passengers are being re-examined as per the prescribed security regulations,” the Air India statement added. “Air India has opened agencies at the airport to assist passengers until their journey resumes.”
The Indian airline has noted that it has received several false bomb threats in recent days, as have other airlines.

“Or everything [threats] subsequently found to be false, as a responsible airline operator, all threats are taken seriously,” Air India said. “We deeply regret the inconvenience to customers.”
The airline is cooperating with authorities to find out who carried out these tricks. Air India even threatened to take civil action against the perpetrator.
“Air India extends full cooperation to the authorities in identifying the perpetrators of these threats to ensure that they are held accountable for the disruption and inconvenience caused to passengers, and will consider legal action against those involved to recover the damage caused by the airline,” the statement said. it concludes.
