AICPDF urges Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene against Swiggy Instamart ad
The All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF) on Saturday, January 4, 2025, raised concerns over Swiggy’s Instamart ad.
The ad in question reportedly urges consumers to “Stop Shopping for Groceries at Retail Stores! We Deliver in Ten Minutes,” a message the AICPDF says threatens the lives of millions of small retailers and distributors across India.
In a post on social media platform X, the AICPDF expressed concern over what it described as a “shocking and brazen attempt” to disrupt the traditional trading system.
The organization said the campaign represented an “open attack” on India’s 1.3 crore retailers and 8 lakh distributors, who are the backbone of the country’s economy.

“Such extortion campaigns, if left unchecked, will destroy the backbone of our economy – our small traders – leaving millions of families desperate,” the AICPDF said.
Highlighting the important role played by traditional retailers and distributors, the coalition called on the government to take immediate and decisive action to stop what it called a “vicious attack” on the retail sector.
According to the AICPDF, unchecked governance by large platforms can lead to monopolistic practices that undermine economic independence and increase unemployment.
As of 5 p.m., Swiggy Instamart had not issued a public response to the allegations.
