About 3,000 people were killed by Israeli attacks in a year, Lebanon said
At least 71 people were killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon on Friday, authorities said Saturday, bringing the death toll to nearly 3,000 since fighting broke out between Israel and Hezbollah in more than a year.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said another 169 people were injured across Lebanon on Friday.
The highest number of victims was reported to have been killed in the attacks in the northeast of the country, with at least 52 dead.
The Department of Health usually does not release the total number of victims until the evening of the following day.
At least 2,968 people, including 183 children, have been killed and 13,319 injured since fighting broke out between Israeli forces and pro-Iranian Hezbollah in Lebanon following Israel’s October 7 attack.
The service’s statistics do not distinguish between civilians and Hezbollah fighters.
