remember BrucePac’s chicken: These are the symbols involved

A number of brands have been affected by the massive recall of BrucePac ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to listeria concerns.

About 12 million pounds of BrucePac products were recalled because they could be contaminated with potentially dangerous bacteria.

The recall was initiated by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), an agency of the USDA, after the products tested positive for listeria monocytogenes during routine product testing.

A subsequent FSIS investigation identified BrucePac RTE chicken as the source of the bacteria, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal illnesses in young children, the frail or elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

On Thursday, FSIS, which initially issued a recall notice for BrucePac products on Oct. 9, released an updated version. It is a 348-page document of all products that may contain contaminated meat.

Some of the affected brands include major retailers such as Kroger, Boston Market and Amazon Fresh, Trader Joe’s and Wegmans. It also influenced stores like 7Eleven and the subscription food service Home. However, FSIS warned that some of the recalled products do not have a brand, so consumers are also encouraged to look for the brand or name.

Here is a list of some, but not all, of the affected products:
