First on Fox: A top outside group supporting Senate Republicans is showing up for a fundraiser

It’s perfect – As the GOP fights to regain its majority in the Senate, the leading PAC supporting Republican incumbents and candidates says it raised $114.5 million during the July-September 2024 third quarter.

And the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF), in sharing its fundraising statistics first with Fox News on Tuesday, reports that it has $112 million as of the end of last month.

A group, which is relevant for a long time Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, noted that its fundraising in the past three months included a $28 million donation from One Nation, a partner nonprofit organization.

And SLF has revealed that its issuance three months ago brings it to $181 million in fundraising for the entire 2024 election cycle — and that it has brought in more this cycle than it did in the same period in mid-2022.

“Our goal from the beginning was to give back to the majority by helping to recruit prominent people and raise enough money to help them compete against entrenched, well-funded Democrats. As we approach Election Day, our sponsors have continued to support our efforts in these battleground contests, and we are grateful for their generosity,” SLF President and CEO Steven Law told Fox News in a statement.

Democrats have a slim 51-49 majority in the Senate, including three independent senators leading the Democratic Alliance caucus and conference.

TOP SIX QUARTER SEATS IN NOVEMBER

That means Republicans need a big gain of one or two seats to regain the majority — depending on which party controls the White House after this year’s presidential election.

Statistics and map love the GOP in 2024. Democrats are securing 23 of the 34 seats up for grabs.

One of those seats is in West Virginia, a deep red state former president Trump taken by almost 40 points in 2020. As Sen. Former Democratic governor Joe Manchin, who is not seeking re-election, flipping the seat is almost a sure thing for the GOP.

Republicans are also aiming to flip seats in Ohio and Montana, two states Trump has carried well over the past four years. And the other five seats held by Democrats that will be up for grabs this year are in key areas of the presidential race.

As Democrats try to protect their fragile Senate majority, they got another headache in February when two-term Republican Gov. Larry Hogan of Maryland launched a campaign for an open seat in the blue state.

SLF says it and affiliate group American Crossroads have reserved $228.5 million in television, radio and digital advertising across Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan and began spending that money beginning on Labor Day.

The two parties spent $82.5 million in Ohio, where longtime Sen. Sherrod Brown is fighting for his political life against GOP challenger Berie Moreno, and $47.9 million in Montana, where polls show Republican challenger Tim Sheehy he earns less. Democratic Sen. Jon Tester.

SLF is spending $52 million in Pennsylvania, where polls show Republican incumbent Dave McCormick closing the gap against Sen. Bob Casey of the Democratic Alliance.

The group is also pouring $23.6 million into a hotly contested race in Wisconsin, where Republican Eric Hovde is challenging Sen. Democrat Tammy Baldwin, and $22.5 million in Michigan where former GOP Rep. Mike Rogers facing Democratic Rep. Elissa Slotkin is the race to succeed longtime Sen. Debbie Stabenow.
