CDC releases list of smallest cruise ships for 2024: Have you been on it?

Carnival CEO Josh Weinstein revealed the need for the cruise line’s record on ‘The Claman Countdown.’
The CDC’s top 10 worst ship sanitation statistics for 2024 are available after officials randomly selected and inspected vessels in the Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP).
A score of “100” is good, with most ships in the water getting a “95.” In the VSP system, anything below “85” is considered unacceptable and must be corrected immediately.
The purpose of VSP is “[help] the tourism industry prevents and controls the spread of GI [gastrointestinal] sickness.”

According to the CDC, 10 outbreaks of viruses and bacteria, especially norovirus, have been recorded on cruise ships this year.
The lowest score this year was “62.” It is tied with Rederij Clipper Stad Amsterdam’s Stad Amsterdam for the sixth lowest CDC rate in VSP history, according to Business Insider.

According to the VSP website, “ships are responsible for correcting all violations. They must correct certain serious violations immediately.”
For random violations, vessels have up to two weeks to submit corrective action reports to the CDC. Areas where food is prepared or served are of particular interest to CDC inspectors.
Vessels eligible for inspection under the VSP are those with “foreign voyages, a US port, and more than 13 passengers,” at each of their sites.
