Hailie Jade Scott shares the story of how she became a father Eminem she didn’t hold back the announcement of her pregnancy.
Scott, whose pregnancy was revealed earlier this month, did so by giving the 15-time, 51-time Grammy Award winner a Detroit Lions jersey with “Grandpa” on the back. However, as Scott, 28, explained on the Friday, October 11, episode of his “Just Shady” podcast, what he was trying to tell her just didn’t click.
“He was saying, ‘Are you trying to call me old? Why are you giving me this sweater that says grandpa?’” he recalled. “Then I held up the ultrasound picture and he was like, ‘Oh my God. Wait, is this true? Is this happening?’”
At that time, the father-daughter duo was filming scenes for his “Temporary” music video, and the person filming their interaction was as happy as a rapper (real name Marshall Mathers).

“It was actually really funny, too, because the person filming didn’t know that was the plan,” he continued. “They were thinking, ‘Oh we just shot.’ So, their reaction was we had to shut up because they were like, ‘What the eff is going on here? Is this true?’”
Scott went on to tell the audience that when his father calmed down, he decided to get in on the fun by helping to reveal the news to their loved ones.
“Some of my family came later to watch the game [Detroit Lions] game,” he explained. “When they got here, we just had my father wearing a sweater and a jacket over it. Then he took it off and everyone saw that it was written by Grandfather. And some of them were still saying, ‘What’s going on?’ I even took the picture out.”
Later in the episode, Scott and the husband Evan McClintock revealed the gender of their baby, telling the audience they were “delighted” to welcome a boy.

“When we found out, Evan was like, ‘They’re going to hunt with me. They will go golfing with me. I have a little friend,’” Scott said. “I was like, ‘Okay, they’re still going with me.’
However, McClintock clarified that “whether it’s a girl or a boy,” she hoped that their child would be interested in their interests.
