The CEO of a Utah software company dies after falling 200 feet in Zion National Park

A Utah software company executive died tragically over the weekend after falling 200 feet while hiking in Zion National Park in Springdale, Utah, according to officials.
At approximately 6:00 p.m. local time Saturday, Justin Bingham, 40, was hiking near the exit of Heaps Canyon, where he fell about 150 to 200 feet, the National Parks Service (NPS) said in a statement.
The NPS said they had three other hikers, and they were all following their approved itinerary.
After receiving a report of the fall, the Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue team and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene and provided emergency medical assistance.

Bingham was airlifted by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter to an airfield where he received more treatment, but it was too late. He was pronounced dead before being airlifted to hospital.
“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time,” said Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh.

Bingham was the CEO of Opinion, a software company in the city of Lindon just outside of Provo that specializes in property management solutions.
The company confirmed his death to Fox News Digital, and said the tragic accident happened while he was enjoying one of his greatest passions – exploring the outdoors.

“Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of authentic communication, both with our clients and within our team. His dedication to building meaningful relationships made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Justin’s selfless spirit and dedication to living life to the fullest will be greatly missed,” the company said.
“If you spent any time around him, he was eternally optimistic. ‘Everything is going to be okay.’ He told me so many times… But he was right, and it usually is,” added Opinion President and COO Devin Shurtleff.

Zion National Park and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the cause of Bingham’s death.
