Kawhi Leonard’s Honest Assessment of New Teammates

Kawhi Leonard has never been blown away by any of his Clippers teammates in training camp.
The Clippers’ 2024-25 roster will have new faces, including Kris Dunn and Derrick Jones Jr., following the departure of Paul George.
The Clippers star told reporters that “no one has highlighted me so far.”
There is no doubt that Kawhi will play a big role in the team’s title chase, but he needs to get over that knee injury first.
When asked if he’ll take the court before LA’s season opener at the Inuit Dome against the Suns he said there’s always “a build up … especially in the situation I’m in.”
Leonard spent the offseason and training camp bracing his surgically repaired right knee.
“I feel good,” Leonard told ESPN. “I was just taking my time, getting stronger and preparing myself.
“… We’re just taking it one step at a time, day by day and just trying to get me back down. Once those talks come, we’ll see what they talk about [on the best approach for back-to-backs].”
Leonard has not been able to play in many NBA games since he tore his right ACL during the 2021-22 season.
He wants to play as many games as possible, but that is not his main goal.
“This is what I’m working for,” said Leonard. “I’m fighting for the title and I’m not here to try [solely] play 82 games. I’m trying to win, though [playing as much as I can] that is an obligation for me. I’m trying. But it didn’t work [the last two postseasons] so we’ll see.”
