Kirk Cousins Relationship Timeline With Wife Julie Hampton

Shortly after starting his professional career with the Washington Commanders (then called the Redskins), Cousins met Hampton through a mutual family friend. After less than two years of dating, the cousins popped the question, and they tied the knot in June 2014.
“I didn’t want to be engaged for a long time at all,” said Mzala The Washington Post in December 2013, shortly after giving Hampton a ring. “But it is clear that you need time to prepare yourself and have the wedding you want and desire. But I think it will just be fun to have the family together in one place for one day. And I just want her to be happy and think about it for years to come. “
Since their marriage, the couple – who share sons Cooper and Turner – have dedicated their free time to helping as founders of the Julie & Kirk Cousins Foundation, which works with organizations including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the International Justice Mission.

In 2019, they adopted a Labradoodle named Abe, who quickly became a beloved member of the family. “We had tried all different shapes and sizes and enjoyed it. But we haven’t really agreed on what style we both like,” Hampton explained in a 2022 interview published on the Vikings website. “But Abe is beautiful.”

2012
A family friend introduced the cousins to Hampton shortly after the cousin began his career in the NFL, and the two quickly began dating.
November 2013
Cousins asked the question in Washington, DC, on the balcony of the Speaker of the House’s office. “I was very scared,” remembers Mzala The Washington Post immediately after his proposal. “On the way down I was driving, as we were getting close to the Capitol building, I was holding his hand, and he said, ‘Why are your hands cold and sweaty?’ I said, ‘I don’t know,’ but I knew it was because I was so scared.”
June 2014
Cousin and Hampton married in Atlanta. Since then, Mzala has been wearing his wedding band on the field. “My wife was happy,” said Cousin USA Today in 2016. “She loved it and, to be honest, after I started wearing it and saw how happy my wife was that I did it, I realized … I think it’s a good thing to promote marriage.”

March 2019
The cousin and Hampton became the parents of two children with the arrival of son Turner. “Welcome to the world, little friend,” Mzala wrote on Instagram at the time. “Mother and baby are doing great, and Cooper is already loving his new role as big brother!”
November 2022
Cousins and Hampton purchased Clearbrook Golf Course in Saugatuck, Michigan. “West Michigan is a special community, and we’ve enjoyed living in Saugatuck/Douglas since we made our home here in 2018,” the duo said in a statement at the time. “Our family could choose [Clearbrook] don’t be a housing development or summer rental community. We want to invest in this great community, and we see this purchase as an opportunity to do just that, to preserve the life of a golf course that has been around since 1926.”
July 2023
The couple appeared in a Netflix documentary The Quarterbackwho also played Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and the Atlanta Falcons QB Marcus Mariota.

Cousins left the Vikings and signed a new contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
“Our boys played well. They handled it well. We put them in three different schools this year because we had them in school in Minnesota,” the quarterback you are only told Us Weekly the following September. “When the season ended, we sent them to school in Michigan. Then when we moved to Atlanta, we put them in school there. There is a solidity there. They probably don’t know anything different.”
Before Cousins’ season started in September, Hampton shared a sweet gift on social media.
“Year 13… we are ready!!!!” wrote about Instagram in July, sharing family photos from training camp. “So proud of @kirkcousins and excited to see him shine this season!”
