Ben Higgins shared an update that his wife, Jess Clarkehe did “in the middle” of her pregnancy with their first child.
“Jess is beautiful … she’s four months away,” Higgins, 35, said during the Thursday, Oct. 3, episode of his “The Ben & Ashley I Almost Famous” podcast. “We just had our 20-week ultrasound, which is an anatomy scan to check everything. As of today, the child is the size of a large banana. It’s too big.”
The former graduate also noted that Clarke, 29, often gets “really emotional” when she sees her unborn child on an ultrasound scan, but she has never felt the same way.
Mainly because at one point, I was like, ‘He’s so cute,’ too [Jess] it was like, ‘That’s her belly.’ “Well, I’m out of this,” Higgins joked. “I don’t know what I’m looking at.” This is just a bunch of different things happening at the same time.”

Higgins’ podcast cohost, a fellow Bachelor Nation alum Ashley Iconettithen he wondered if he was “giving birth” already.
“I’m on a roll right now … I painted the nursery, put up wainscoting, redid our bathroom,” Higgins said. “[It’s] it’s early. I don’t want to be rushed at the end. I get emotional sometimes doing that because I’m like, ‘My baby girl is going to sleep this one day.’ For the most part, I haven’t gotten over the feelings yet.”
Higgins continued, “It’s amazing. It’s the season of good life for us – and Jess said her belly is out. It’s like you can see that you’re pregnant now.”
Higgins married Clarke in November 2021 after three years of dating. The pair confirmed Clarke’s pregnancy in August.
“The next chapter of our love story! Baby girl coming in February,” they shared a caption on Instagram at the time.
Weeks later, Higgins agreed Us Weekly that he was “terrified” of being the girl’s father.
“With a girl, there are 1,000 worst-case scenarios in my mind and I know she’s going to break my heart,” Higgins said to himself. Us on August 19. “You’re going to break [my heart] because it is very crowded. …I can’t imagine walking in the door and seeing my little girl running up to me and saying, ‘Daddy, you’re home.’ That just crushes me, and it makes me happy, and it makes me feel like everything.”
He added, “I know I will hear everything and what worries me the most is what will be done to me.
That being said, Higgins said jokingly Us that she was afraid of being “a pile of tears and mucus forever” when her daughter was born.
