The Echo Dot will hit a record low of $23 thanks to a Prime Day deal

If you’re looking for a cheap Alexa speaker, this Amazon Prime Day deal will be hard to beat. The Echo Dot (5th generation) has improved sound that rivals more expensive rivals like the HomePod mini. Normally priced at $50, the latest Echo Dot is only $23 today, cheaper than its Big Day in July price.

This Echo Dot model was launched in 2022 with clearer vocals, deeper bass and a brighter overall sound than previous generations. Of course, it will pale in comparison to larger and more expensive speakers, but good luck finding anything else of this quality at that retail price. Engadget’s current pick for the best smart speaker under $50.

The speaker supports direct streaming from Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music. It works well for podcasts, too, and you can use it as a Bluetooth speaker for unsupported apps. Alexa lets you control smart home accessories, get weather updates and ask common questions. Equipping your home with smart speakers can be expensive, but this sale price can allow you to put Alexa in any room for a low upfront investment.

The speaker has a nice, rounded shape and a small style. It measures only 3.9 inches at its widest point and won’t take up much space on a table or desk. Available in charcoal, white and blue — all for the same price.

If you are turning your home into a smart home, you can choose a bundle with smart lighting for the same price. For $23, you can get the TP-Link Tapo smart color light and smart speaker.

Although its sound isn’t in the same category as the Dot, the Echo Pop is even cheaper. An equally good speaker is on sale on Prime Day for $18. This can be a great option if you integrate your home with Alexa devices, but there are rooms where you can’t listen to music. Otherwise, the more expensive Echo Dot will be your best bet.
