A surprise visit from Captain Jack Sparrow was a surprise for some young cancer patients.

Actor Johnny Depp, who was in Spain at the San Sebastian Film Festival, dressed as a famous character from the popular movie series “Pirates of the Caribbean” and fell into Osakidetza Donostia University Hospital.

Depp visited the children’s and oncology wards, where he interacted with happy children and their families.

The spokesperson of this hospital described the actor’s visit as something interesting, lovely and unforgettable.

“Both children who were admitted to the hospital and their families and staff who were working at the time welcomed him with excitement and love,” said the spokesperson.

“In the case of illness, anyone, but especially children, appreciates a disturbance of this magnitude. It was a breath of fresh air, a magical moment where they forgot about their illness and were transported to the magical world of pirates.”

The entire hospital team, hospitalized children and their families are all “very grateful” for Depp’s visit, the spokesperson said.

“It was a pleasure and an honor to have Jack Sparrow with us, the great villain.”

‘Significant impact’

Harpreet Pall, MD, chair of pediatrics at K Hospital. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center, confirmed that a famous model visiting a children’s hospital can have a “significant impact” on the mental health of patients.

“Some of the psychological benefits include improved self-confidence and self-esteem, reduced illness, improved optimism and morale,” Pall told Fox News Digital.

“Celebrity visits can create excitement and reduce the stress of being in hospital.”

Visits can also increase children’s interaction with their health care team, the doctor said, leading to better adherence to the treatment plan.
