13 Best Sofas to Buy Online (2024): Sectionals, Sofas, Sleepers, and More
Maybe you did a hand-me-down couch or a lightweight advanced floral section. Or maybe your seat cushions are stained or stained. Whatever your reason for wanting to buy a new sofa online, you’ve come to the right place. A few of us here on the WIRED Gear team have spent years reviewing sofas delivered to our door sight unseen, checking out some of the most popular sofas you can order online. These are our favorites.
Like bed-in-a-box mattresses, ordering a sofa online is easier than it sounds. You simply choose what you want, place the order, and voilà: Several boxes will arrive on your front porch. Assemble the parts and you are ready to go. But it’s important to do your research. Many sofa manufacturers offer sample swatches of fabrics, which you should take advantage of to ensure that the color and feel is exactly what you want. Be sure to measure the area where your sofa will be, as well as the doors and stairs for delivery.

Why Should I Buy A Couch Online?
Buying a sofa online comes with many benefits. There are usually more customization options and a wider selection to choose from. It’s usually cheaper than buying directly from the store. The biggest bonus is that you get delivery which means you don’t have to hire a U-Haul or a best friend with a truck. If you choose to assemble it yourself, you can do it at your own pace, and if you choose white glove delivery, they will simply drill your furniture wherever it needs to go. Unless you’re near a showroom, you lose the benefit of being able to try it on in person, but most sofa dealers have a trial period so you can return it for free if you end up not liking it.
What Should I Do Before Buying?
Before you order, make sure you measure the area where it will be (several times!) and consider putting masking tape on the floor to get a feel for the size if you’re trying to visualize it. If you are going to assemble the sofa yourself, consider having a friend help you assemble it. (I’ve successfully put together many sofas by myself, but it goes faster with a friend.) Think about your fabric, too. Functional fabrics are durable and easy to clean, but they are not as soft or comfortable as other finishes such as chenille or microfiber. Most sofa manufacturers have swatch books available so you can experience the color and texture first hand before committing. After ordering but before you receive delivery make sure to clear your space.
