Diego Pacheco (23-0, 18 KOs) received a late scare from Steven Nelson (20-1, 16 KOs) but survived to win a 12-round unanimous decision on DAZN Saturday night at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, Chelsea Ballroom, Las Vegas.
The fight showed that Pacheco can be broken with constant pressure at a fast pace. Pacheco was lucky that Nelson, 36, was an old fighter with no strength because he would have fallen if he had been able to punch.

Nelson started quickly, using the work to dominate the first three rounds. Pacheco took over with his power hitting, and dominated from the fourth to the tenth against Nelson. In the last two rounds, a bloodied Nelson looked like a new man, going after Pacheco, hitting him with big shots that had caught the 23-year-old.
The power shown by the 36-year-old Nelson in the 11th and 12th rounds was impressive. That’s what he lacked in the middle of the tournament, where he gave up the fight.
