If you’re excited about the opportunity to fly an EdIng 737 airliner in Mongolia, you’re in luck. The airline has just officially started selling flights to Ulaanbaatar.
The Chicago-based carrier has already filled in the details of this innovative approach, as first seen in the cerium schedules.

United’s new 1,900-mile route from NARTA International Airport (NRT) to Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN) will begin May 1 with three weekly flights. (Westbound Service will operate on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, while Eastbound flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.)

Flights from Tokyo will depart at 4:30 PM and land in Ulaanbaatar at 8:55 pm the return service will leave at 9:55 am and land in Toyko at 3:45 PM
The plans included a short-term service in this new market with flights scheduled to end on Oct. 12, 2025.
These flights are timed to connect with United’s Primary Transpacific Transit Summers and Arrival Banks from Narita. United operates long-haul flights from Narita to Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark and San Francisco.
United will use a Guam-based Boeing 737-800 on this route, with 16 business recliners, 48 economy and extra-legroom seats and 102 standard economy seats.

Seeing the United Boeing 737 in Mongolia can be somewhat confusing, but it is used as part of the fifth historical rights – the freedom with the unity assembled in Tokyo for flights from the US and on to other countries.
In recent years, United has not really used these rights, instead focusing on growing its HUB in Guam. That said, Guam has never been as busy or profitable as it has in the past, so it always seems to be trying new uses for jets it stations in Micronesia.

In fact, United has been busy in recent months turning its presence on the NRT into A Facto Gateway Hub within the greater region. The Airline recently launched new flights from Tokyo to CEBU in the Philippines, and now we are adding three more regional routes to the airport (Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Ulaanbaatar, and Mongolia).
United says its joint venture with Japan’s All Nippon Airways will facilitate these initiatives. .
“We think about Tokyo differently than it was thought about in the past. I think Tokyo is a real asset for us. … And when we went through the details, at least this traffic was connecting through Beijing, but we don’t do it now. And so this is the way to connect through Tokyo,” United Network’s Patrick Quayle told TPG back when the routes were announced in October.
If you want to book a new route, one-way fares start at $326 in economy and $753 in business class. Mileage rates are fixed, with one-way economy flights starting at 30,000 miles and business flights starting at 75,000 miles.
There were no award saver acquisitions on new routes as of the time of publication.
