“You Can’t Get It”: Teofimo Lopez Taunts Richardson Hitchins With Belts
Teofimo Lopez showed off his belt collection with X today and mocked the IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins. Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) informed Hitchin that he will not hold on to his belts.
2025 Prediction
The belts that Teofimo has shown may end with his next fight against Hitchins, Teo’s tough matchup. This guy will do to Teo what George Kambosos Jr. did.
Teofimo is expected to fight two rivals in 2025: Hitchins and Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis. He may fight Hitchins first in the summer and Boots in October. This could be a bad year for Lopez, as he has lost both of his fights and enters February 2026 with his career on the line against either Devin Haney or Ryan Garcia.
Lopez won’t get much criticism from the fans for losing to Boots Ennis because he will be moving up to 147 to take on the best fighter in the division. However, Teo won’t get the same free pass against Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) and is embarrassed by the loss of the Haney vs. Garcia 2 in February 2026.
Teofimo made himself look bad by turning down what his promoter, Bob Arum, said was a big payday to defend against Subriel Matias. The purse would have been bigger, and he would have made more money on the PPV. Lowering it looked like a ducking motion to Teofimo, showing that he was scared.
Belt Pride
“Yes, Richardson, you can be trained right now, boy. You won’t get it,” said Teofimo Lopez on X showing his belt mocking the IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins.
“Yo, Boots, we’re coming to three,” said Teofimo about wanting to take Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis’ IBF welterweight title to become a three-division world champion.
