Steph Curry Talks About Warriors’ Embarrassing Loss to Celtics

It’s hard not to feel sorry for Steph Curry at this point. Less than six months ago, he was the star of Team USA as it won gold in spectacular fashion at the Paris Olympics.

He’s back in the world with the Warriors this season, and it’s tough.

After ESPN had it just published an article in which Curry said he still thinks the Warriors “can beat anybody in a playoff series” lost 125-85 to rival Boston at Golden State’s home court.

Curry was asked how he could handle such a loss by reporters after the game.

“I don’t know,” Curry said, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “It’s difficult. From the end of the first quarter and throughout the game. I thought we came out healthy and strong. A big part of our season was when we couldn’t score, we lost our breath, we lost our health, we lost our competitiveness. We can get away with it against certain teams – against the defending champions, it’s not a good way to win.”

He was then asked how the team will fare for the next week or so without the injured Jonathan Kuminga and Draymond Green.

“The mentality of the next man up — everybody who steps on the floor has to be able to sing, bring the spirit of, you know, you belong, we’re doing it together as a unit,” Curry said, as unconvincingly as possible. “It didn’t happen tonight, obviously we have nothing to show for 36 minutes tonight and it’s going to be tough…you have to believe you’ve got enough to win on any given night. You have to believe we are a team that can find a way to perform on both ends of the floor. It’s a mental thing before it’s a physical thing, I think. “

It’s clear that Golden State needs to get Curry some kind of help this trade deadline. Watching his spirit being crushed like this is hard to watch.
