Terence Crawford worked today, responding to Canelo Alvarez reducing his record by saying he only fought another “good” one his 17-year professional opponent, Errol Spence, and that was after a horrific car accident in 2019.

Canelo seems to have mixed feelings about giving an imperfect, unproven fighter like Crawford a chance to fight him. Terence never fought the killers at 147 or 154.
It is understood that Alvarez is taking a swipe at Crawford, who has a resume that says quality interest wins because that is the truth. He is an example of how fighters can float apart, take titles against weaker opponents and call out a popular fighter for cash-out purposes. There is a plan to this. What Crawford has done in winning four division titles is nothing like that Adrien Broner he did the same.

Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) revealed the truth about Crawford’s career. He has only beaten one fighter, Spence, and that was after he was injured in a 2019 car accident. Once you defeat Errol, no one in Terence’s book would call him a good fighter. They were shot while Crawford was fighting them or B-level their entire career.

I’ll be on board with Turki if he insists that Crawford run this little gauntlet to get Canelo. golden parachute retirement savings. I mean, isn’t that how it’s done in the NFL and NBA? You play the best teams and go to the playoffs and championship games to earn a shot at the top prize. Crawford is trying to take a shortcut to the gold, and I can’t respect that. That sets a bad example for others to follow, knowing they can swing from work, pick and choose vulnerable victims in order to get that retirement payday.
