Daniel Medvedev had an unproductive Australian Open in many ways. First, the three-time finalist was knocked out in the second round by the 19-year-old, marking his first loss since his Melbourne debut in 2017.
The second time he has been fined $76,000 for two separate violations, and he could pay more as he continues to replace the camera he violently smashed during his first-round win over World No.418 Kasidit Samrej.

Medvedev was fined $10,000 for code violations in the first round, and another $66,000 for multiple violations during his loss to Tien, including a fine for skipping his post-match press conference.
Medvedev said after his first round match that he hoped the penalty would not be too high.
“I hope it won’t be too big, because maybe the penalty usually breaks the racquet, and the camera will cost more, but I don’t think the Go Pro is that expensive,” he said. “What I will say is that the camera was very strong, because my racket did not take the damage.”
It is not yet known what the additional cost of the web camera will be.
