Promoter Oscar De La Hoya says he doesn’t see a “need” for Ryan Garcia to fight Devin Haney in a rematch. He says Garcia already “destroyed” Haney in their fight last year, and there are better fighters for him, like Teofimo Lopez.
Haney’s cry
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has been lamenting his loss and accused Ryan of testing positive for the banned substance Ostarine. He has been using that as an excuse for his failure in his loss.
If Devin really believes that, it’s surprising that he would want a repeat. Why not continue if he thinks that Garcia is “a deceiver.”
With the way Haney was badmouthing Ryan, he should forget him without a goal. That’s what Canelo Alvarez would do if he kept getting insulted by the person who beat him. Kingry should follow his lead.
When De La Hoya was playing, he wouldn’t have given the star a rebound if he hit them as hard as Ryan did Haney. Oscar would move on and not fight an unnecessary rematch.
Obviously, the money Haney would get from fighting other guys wouldn’t be as good as a rematch. Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) is a star and there is no Haney that can fight at 140 or 147 that comes close to him.

De La Hoya is right about Garcia, he doesn’t need a replay because he beat Haney soundly. There’s a lot of money for Ryan fighting these guys:
