Rachel Lindsay Breaks Silence After Finalizing Bryan Abasolo’s Divorce

Getty Images (2)Rachel Lindsay broke her silence days after her divorce was finalized Bryan Abasolo.
“I’m divorced. Thank you, God,” Lindsay, 39, said during the Friday, January 10 episode of her “Higher Learning” podcast. “Give me music for freedom. Some music for freedom.”
After joking around for a minute, Lindsay got serious and explained to the cohost Van Lathan that it really is a “weird feeling” to get divorced.
“Since the last time he left the house, after being here for seven months apart, I felt divorced,” he continued. “I’ll be honest, I have a lot to say.”
Lindsay noted that “from the beginning” she wanted to share her side of the story – but not yet.
“I haven’t spoken yet, but I will speak and I clarify all that,” he continued. “There [are] there are many things I want to fix.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Lindsay revealed what “bothered” her most about Abasolo’s behavior.
“At his end, there were certain things that were said to play with certain ideas that hurt me or worried me. … Saying things that play a big role in the idea that I’m an angry Black woman,” she said, saying the “narrative” played out where she “put the work in” with the relationship with the children.
“Those things are not true,” Lindsay said. “To see people running with that because it’s low-hanging fruit and it’s associated with a certain belief, it was really devastating.”

He filed for divorce from Lindsay in January 2024 after more than four years of marriage. After some back and forth, which included financial details and the couple continuing to live together, their divorce was finalized on Tuesday, January 7. (They did not have a prenuptial agreement.)
Us confirmed in July 2024 that Lindsay was ordered to pay Abasolo $13,257 a month in spousal support and $20,000 in attorney fees and forensics fees. Their divorce papers, found by Us On Tuesday, it shared that Abasolo “waives, releases and discharges” Lindsay from all future payments “anywhere”. (He still owes her $460,229.)

Lindsay didn’t talk about the details of their breakup during Friday’s podcast, but she did say that she has to be the “big guy” in their divorce.
“If someone fights you like this and is willing to die on every hill and absolutely not willing to compromise for whatever reason he has – and [I’ll] let’s talk about that later,” he said. “You have to sometimes stop and be a big person and prioritize what’s most important to you.”
Lindsay explained that she got to the point where she was “trying to move on” and “had to make a deal that I really didn’t want to make.”
“My peace of mind is precious at the end of the day, and I really want to start rebuilding, and I want to move forward,” he added. “I can do that now. And that feels really good.”
He concluded that “he would never marry again without marriage,” adding: “It’s like, it changed my whole perspective on everything.” I don’t know if I will get married again. I can’t even understand that.”
