Devin Haney Holds Open Workout Today In London

Devin Haney will work out in front of his British fans today at an open practice at 2:00 pm in London, England. He doesn’t have a fight planned.

Haney in London: Wants UK Boost

It’s a strange move by Dev because he’s not fighting a British guy; he is coming off an embarrassing loss, and his stock is low. He seems very eager to make the move, but it shows where he is professionally.

It will look bad for Haney if there are few fans and members of the media to watch him work. However, there will probably be a fair number of British media outlets turning up for interviews.

Some believe the move is to build Haney’s brand overseas in the hope that Turki Al-Shiekh will be chosen to fight for one of his Riyadh Season cards. By working in London, former two-division world champion Devin will gain exposure to the British media and potentially be noticed by Turki.

If he wants to add Devin to one of his cards, he can match him up against a formidable opponent, such as Richardson Hitchins, Liam Paro, or Jaron Ennis. It’s doubtful that Haney would agree to fight any of these guys because he wouldn’t want to risk his rematch with Ryan Garcia.

Haney’s A-List Status Lost

In the US, Haney’s stock has fallen since his loss to Ryan Garcia and his decision to file a lawsuit and stay out of the ring for a year, not fighting. The way his career looks now, it doesn’t look good for him.

He is no longer one of the A-list fighters because of that loss, and his chances of returning to his former top-level position are slim. No champion is as weak as the one Haney beat to take his two division world titles.
