The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay unveils a sweeping new look
Luxury travelers to the Bay Area can expect a big splash at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay starting this month.
The luxury resort unveiled Wednesday the results of an extensive, multimillion-dollar renovation of its guest rooms, suites, spa and restaurants. The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay first opened in 2001 on a bayside property and evokes a Scottish Highlands-meets-Northern California vibe. It’s also a TPG favorite for Marriott Bonvoy points splurges.
The renovation, carried out by the creative team at the resort design firm Hirsch Bedner Associates, is intended to complement the natural environment of the resort and is based on the comfort of the California coast.

The design of the updated guest rooms and suites is intended to be a subtle nod to the architectural features guests have come to expect from a stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. Tailored fabrics reflect the surrounding sand dunes, while leather markings are a symbol of the local heritage of the horse farm. You’ll also find plaid accents that evoke some of those Scottish vibes throughout.
The Ritz-Carlton’s flagship restaurant, Navio, has also undergone a makeover and now has redesigned table settings and upgraded flooring to offer a refreshing experience of the pool area’s atmosphere and vaulted ceilings. The Conservatory, Navio’s sister restaurant, has also received an update to its mid-century aesthetic – and both restaurants have retained their sea views.
The Spa at the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay has now renovated changing rooms and relaxation rooms. The spa treatment rooms, sauna, steam room, cold plunge and whirlpool have also been updated. Along with the property renovation, the resort plans to offer pop-up partnerships with wine and spirits brands, special dinners emphasizing local ingredients and wines, select Ritz Kids in-house and pet amenities, and other guest experiences.
