CC Sabathia’s love of golf continues to impact youth through the annual PitCCH In Foundation tournament

UCC Sabathia is expected to be in the MLB Hall of Fame early next year where he will vote for the first time but he is passionate about another game these days.

One he continues to use to give back to young people in the communities that have welcomed him all his life.

Sabathia’s 4th Annual Golf Tournament, sponsored by title sponsor The Kaulig Companies, was held at the Alpine Country Club in New Jersey on Monday afternoon, where a star-studded lineup including current and former New York Yankees, New York Giants and more were in attendance. annual outing to benefit the former star’s PitCCH In Foundation.

The PitCCh In Foundation was established in 2008, and since its inception, Sabathia and his wife, Amber, have been reaching out to youth in the communities of Cleveland, New York and California that have welcomed him and his family over the years.

The foundation has three signature programs that we offer to youth: the All-Star Baseball Clinic, the Youth Backpack Program and Field Rehabilitation – all of which help those kids succeed on the field and in the classroom.

But Sabathia’s love of golf, which began a few years ago, led to a charity tournament aimed at giving back to not only his friends and those who want to give back, but also the children and the PitCCH In Foundation.

Sabathia spoke to FOX Business at the Alpine Country Club before the break, where he discussed the importance of the annual tournament.

“I just think, for me, it’s important to be sustainable in the community with everything I do with PitCCh In and just follow up,” he explained. “I don’t think that anything we do at PitCCh In is a one-off when you watch and follow what we do. So, for me, it’s important to be in the lives of these children as much as possible, so that means us. and Kaulig Giving and our relationship and we make sure that we do everything we can to impact the lives of children here in New York and Cleveland and back home in California.

“Growing up, the Boys & Girls Club saved my life. So, I want to be that vehicle in someone else’s life, even if it’s just one child. So, I think that’s why we don’t just do anything.”

Kaulig, owner of NASCAR’s Kaulig Racing and founder and board member at Leaf Home, has worked with Sabathia for years now, particularly through their impact in northeast Ohio. He expressed how fulfilling it is to be able to sponsor not only this event, but everything PitCCh In has done through its Kaulig Giving platform.

“Working with PitCCh In, working with CC and Amber, it’s been amazing,” Kaulig said. “They had a camp a few months ago in Cleveland that I went to and I saw all the kids learning baseball and being able to communicate with CC. So, it was really cool.”

Tim Clepper, president and CEO of Kaulig Companies, added: “Both Matt and CC are a beacon for kids. When kids see them, you’re in shape and kids look at them and say, ‘I want to be like them. I want that in my life.’ ‘

Sabathia walked out on the course Monday with several New York sports legends, including New York greats Michael Strahan and Victor Cruz and current New York Yankees Nestor Cortes Jr. and Jazz Chisholm Jr.

The great PitCCh In kids team also promoted their dances, interacted with golfers and heard why Sabathia loves the game, which he says he does “pretty much every day.”

And with his children, Sabathia’s oldest son, Carston Sabathia Jr., loves the game.

“He just turned 21, and I was down in Houston, and that’s what he wanted to do – go play golf. It’s something we can compete with and I get four hours with him. I don’t really get a chance to get four hours with a 21-year-old kid and connect with him and know what is going on in his life,” said Sabathia.

Baseball is what made Sabathia the celebrity and legend he is today in his communities, and it will continue to be something he uses to influence the next generation.
