Former All-Star DeMarcus Cousins recently called out former Pelicans general manager Dell Demps when he reflected on his time in the organization with Anthony Davis.
Cousins was traded to the Pelicans in 2017 after spending six seasons with the Kings. Unfortunately he ruptured his left Achilles tendon after recording a career high 36.2 minutes per game, and since Dec. 29 to Jan. 22.
An injury kept him off the court for more than a year, but the former player believes that if the front office had kept the team together, they could have been contenders.
“I don’t think the year I blew out my Achilles would have happened, but they would have kept the team together, we would have finished the run, at least in year 2, I believe,” Cousins said. Run It Back.

Cousins was then asked as a follow-up if he thought he and Davis would have been the best duo in NBA history, had they stayed together for the Pels.
“In NBA history?” The cousin asked. “It’s hard to say that. It’s hard to say that when you have guys like Tim Duncan and David Robinson as teammates and everything they’ve accomplished, but I think we could be in the conversation, and I think we’ve got a lot of talent around him. those guys. But obviously, we’re not doing sh*t, so it’s not something I can talk about, but with talent, I think we can be 1A, 1B or close second.”
Cousins and Davis never got another chance to play together after that, since Boogie signed with the Warriors in the 2018-19 season, and Davis played one season in New Orleans before being traded to the Lakers in the 2019-20 campaign.
