Bezos downplays $600M wedding rumours: ‘Don’t believe everything you read’
Billionaire Jeff Bezos on Sunday shot down reports that he is about to drop a staggering $600 million on the star-studded wedding of Aspen and his fiancee, Lauren Sanchez.
The wedding news comes from an exclusive Daily Mail report that cited three anonymous sources as saying that the Amazon founder’s lavish wedding is set for Dec. 28. Actor Kevin Costner’s Dunbar Ranch and Matsuhisa sushi restaurant will be the venues for the ceremony and reception, according to reports. .
A number of other sites have picked up the story, citing the Daily Mail. One such report caught the eye of Bill Ackman of Bezos, who wrote in X, that the value of the dollar was “unbelievable.”

“Unless you buy a house for each of your guests, you can’t spend that much money,” Ackman wrote.
Bezos, who is worth an estimated $238.5 billion, responded to Ackman’s tweet, not only disputing the price but also suggesting that a wedding is not in the works for next weekend.
“Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false – none of this is happening,” Bezos posted on X. “The old saying ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is more true today than ever.”
Bezos continued, paraphrasing a quote often attributed to Mark Twain.
“Now a lie can get ALL the way around the world before the truth gets its pants on. So be careful out there folks and don’t be fooled,” he wrote.

Bezos said “it will be interesting to see if all the outlets that have ‘covered’ and re-reported this issue are fixed if they come and go and don’t happen.”
Bezos, 60, and Sanchez, 55, have been engaged since May 2023. Before they got engaged, their relationship it has been almost five years. Both had previous marriages, with Bezos splitting from Mackenzie Scott after two decades.
Bezos’ net worth makes him the second richest man in the world after Elon Musk, according to Forbes.
He currently owns The Washington Post and the space company Blue Origin.
