Austen Kroll’s Southern Charm Shares Dating Rules for the Holiday Season
Austen Kroll he hasn’t always been successful in love, but he knows a thing or two about dating during the holidays.
Kroll, 37, started seeing his current girlfriend, Audrey Prattduring cuffing season last year. As they celebrate their anniversary together, Us Weekly asked u Southern Charm star with her tips for getting into — and keeping — love that starts during the cooler months.
Cuffing season aka the holiday season means the colder months when you want to meet that special someone and be in a romantic relationship. According to Kroll, it’s an overall “yes” to starting a new relationship during the fall and winter months.
However, the reality star has mixed feelings about whether a new partner should meet your parents over the holidays.
“How serious is this person and how long have you been dating?” Have you been dating for more than three months?” he asked. Then yes, you can introduce your partner to your family during the holidays.
When it comes to giving gifts in a new relationship, Kroll admitted that “it’s not my love language” so he’s not the best person to ask.
“I feel bad because I feel like jewelry is a lame gift, but women love jewelry, don’t they?” he asked. “I don’t know. … I mean flowers, like a lame gift? Yes.” Kroll said when in doubt, turn to “girl friends” to help find the perfect gift.
While gifts aren’t his area of expertise, Kroll was confident with a few of the season’s cuffing faux pas.
“If you’re on the fence about a relationship, you wait until after Christmas and the new year, maybe [to break up],” said Kroll Us. “That would be cruel to break up with someone before Christmas.”
She also advised against “calling your ex because you don’t have a date” for the holiday bash, calling it a total “don’t.” If your ex is calling you to hook up with one to date, Kroll said it’s a “dealer’s choice.”
However, he spread on the side of caution and reminded Us“They’re exes for a reason,” so maybe don’t pick up the phone.
No matter what stage of romance you’re in, Kroll said holiday movie dates or solo viewings are a must.
“My favorite holiday rom-com to watch by the fire during the holidays right now A holiday,” he shared. “I’ve seen it twice this December.”
