Hear: Rage Looks “Very Old”

Eddie Hearn says Tyson Fury “He looked really old” during a media workout this week, noting how much he has matured ahead of his rematch with WBA, WBC and WNO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) on Saturday, December 21 in Riyadh.

Although Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) is only 36 years old, he looked to some fans like someone in his late 50s or early 60s as he prepared for his rematch with Usyk. It’s not just the beard. The punishment taken by both fighters in their previous fight was severe, but it seems to have taken a lot out of their Gypsy King, resulting in an elderly appearance.

Fury’s Incarnate Form

Fury’s face and body. He looked past his 36 years of age, which could be a problem for him because Usyk hasn’t aged since they fought on May 18. He wants Fury to finish him off and stop the judges from beating him.

The promoter, Hearn, has no dog in this race and knows how to tell it like it is. He says Fury is “not a guy anymore,” which is putting it mildly.

“I know he’s got a beard and everything, but I thought Tyson looked really old in training to be honest,” Eddie Hearn told BBC 5 Live Sport, noting how old Tyson Fury has looked since his loss to Oleksandr Usyk. on May 18. “He’s not a young man anymore.”

“He’s 36 years old,” Steve Bunce said of Fury.

“He is not a natural runner. “You’re not going to see her doing her yoga and getting massages every day, like just taking care of herself,” Hearn said of Fury. “But he is a natural fighter. That’s the difference. He is not built, but he is not an athlete. He doesn’t move like that.”

The Lifestyle of a Gypsy King

Fury’s habit of packing on the pounds between fights may have contributed to the weight loss. British star Ricky Hatton used to struggle between fights, losing weight and needing to strip in training camp. His career may have been dramatically cut short. He retired at 34, which is close to where Fury is.

“I think his body will break down faster than someone who has lived a perfect life,” Hearn said of the ‘gypsy king. “Usyk, I think he is a player, and I think he can stay for a while. Anger is like a natural, impulsive fighter and that’s what makes him dangerous.

“He doesn’t look like he should be good, but he’s really good because he’s been fighting since he was young,” Hearn said of Fury.
