Instagram is adding a feature to edit a DM before everyone edits a post

Instagram adds an editing option. Social media expert Lindsey Gamble, and Instagram confirmed that TechCrunch that it removes scheduled DMs from all users.

When typing a message, just hold down the send button and you can select the date and time. It appears that messages can be scheduled up to 29 days in advance. Until all scheduled messages are sent, you’ll see a banner that reads “x scheduled messages.”

This will be useful for people who want to organize birthday messages for a group of friends at once or, for example, to remind someone to pick them up from the airport on a certain date. It will also be useful for people who tend to take care of books at night and don’t want everyone to know how late they sleep. That’s not something I ever do with emails.

It is worth noting that Instagram is rolling out this DM editing feature before all users are able to. Currently, that feature is limited to people with .

Meanwhile, Instagram is rolling out several limited-time, end-of-the-year features to help you celebrate your 2024 holidays and memories. First, there is a news collage tool with an end of the year theme. Based on the photos shared by Instagram, it looks like you can go with a Happy New Year overlay.

There are many templates to add your own based on the New Year as well, such as the one you can use to tell friends to share photos in the format of how 2024 started/ended 2024. If you click the like button on Year-end News, you will see a custom effect. There is a New Year text effect and a countdown text effect for News, Reels and feed posts.

Topics of discussion for holiday celebrations include New Year’s, one called “dating” and, of course, one based on Mariah Carey. Finally, if you use certain emojis based on celebrations or phrases like “Happy New Year” or “hello 2025” in DMs or notes before the end of the year, you’ll see a little Easter egg of some kind.
