Holiday decorator Mr. Christmas is recalling 44,600 wireless decorative tree light controls for a potential fire hazard.
The wireless receivers of the recalled holiday tree light controls “may overheat, creating a fire hazard,” according to a recall notice published by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
Receivers are one of the two components that make up affected tree light controllers. The recalled model numbers, which appear on white receivers, include 39611, 39612 and 39630.

The “fast-track” recall, announced late last week, comes after 10 known cases of receivers overheating without injury, the CPSC said. In one incident, a fire broke out.

CPSC’s rapid recall program “helps consumers by removing potentially harmful products from the marketplace as quickly and efficiently as possible, and rewards businesses that act quickly,” according to the agency’s website.
“We focus on designing and providing quality products,” said Mr. Christmas on Facebook is about remembering. “Consumer safety is our top priority.”
The recall includes more than 44,000 controllers.
The sales of the two-part decorative tree light controllers were affected between July and November this year. They were available through Walmart, Target and Cracker Barrel online and in physical stores nationwide.
Some of the recalled light controls have varied in appearance depending on the vendor.

In Walmart and Cracker Barrel iterations, they are “shaped like green, red and white peppermint candy with a sharp sugar cane,” the CPSC notice said.
Mr. Christmas sold tree light controllers through Target, Walmart and Cracker Barrel.
Meanwhile, the light controls of Mr. Christmas at Target are “shaped like an open/close box with blue, red and white balls,” according to the recall. They carried the name “Wondershop”.
“Consumers should immediately stop using this product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund,” said Mr.
The recalled wireless decorative tree light controllers cost between $25 and $40 at retailers, according to the CPSC.

Target and Walmart have both posted recall information about Mr. Christmas on their websites from Monday morning.
Mr. Christmas has been producing “mechanical and musical” holiday decorations since the 1930s, according to its website.
