Former home of Brittany Murphy again Britney Spears it’s on the market again.
The Hollywood Hills home is listed at $17,995,000, according to Zillow. It was also the place where Murphy was found dead on December 20, 2009. The Clueless actress was taken to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where she died the same day.
At that time, it was determined that Murphy died from a combination of pneumonia, anemia and prescription and over-the-counter drugs.
Murphy’s husband Simon Monjack was found dead in the same area 5 months after his wife’s death. He was 40 years old. The Los Angeles Coroner’s announced that Monjack died of the same causes as Murphy.
In a real estate listing, it’s described as “an architectural gem, surrounded by celebrity homes.” The listing also explains that the house “has been completely transformed, emerging as a testament to comfortable living and meticulous craftsmanship.”
The home, built in 1997, has 6 beds and 9 baths within 9,400 square feet. When the Murphys bought the home, they weren’t the first celebrities to live within its walls.
The couple bought the house from Spears, a pop and music star, in 2003 for $3.85 million.
While staying at the home, the “Toxic” singer said she had a supernatural experience there.
In a 2021 episode of the “We Need to Talk About Britney” podcast, her former makeup artist Julianne Kaye described her experience with the singer.
“[Spears] I had that place at Sunset Plaza — and I’m just going to say, this is really weird … He’s calling me … I had a friend of mine for a reiki healing,” Kaye said at the time. “He was high; I think he had a crazy weekend of partying and needed to rest. He left, and you swear to God that you opened a spiritual portal or something, and these evil spirits had come in…
Kaye said that after this incident, Spears never returned home, instead he stayed at the Casa Del Mar hotel.
“You go, ‘I know you’re going to think I’m crazy. I’m not crazy. I know what I saw. I know how I felt,’” Kaye added.
Murphy is also said to feel uneasy about this place. In a 2010 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Monjack elaborated on the actress’ homesickness.
“He absolutely hated the Rising Glen house,” Monjack told the outlet. “Every time we went up on Sunset, Brit would say, ‘Please, can we stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel?’ I said: ‘Honey, you have to face the facts. We have our house, a 10,000-square-foot home. We’re going to live in it.’”
