While President-elect Donald Trump presides over an incoming administration that prepares to fight illegal immigration, Chicago residents are bearing the brunt of the Windy City’s immigrant crisis.
One citizen is targeting Mayor Brandon Johnson about an illegal immigration Ponzi scheme.
“[Johnson] he should be convicted of treason. We are dealing with a democratic socialist mayor, and he is bringing an agenda to Chicago that will not work. And it’s an illegal immigration program that has been in place since last year,” Chicago resident Zoe Leigh said on “The Evening Edit” on Friday.
“We are $1.2 billion behind due to this immigration scam. I call it a Ponzi scheme.”

Along with other green sanctuary cities like New York City and Denver, Chicago has seen a surge in immigrants in recent years.
Fox News data revealed that the Windy City spent $574.5 million on immigrants, joining other Blue strongholds like New York City, Boston and Denver, which have spent huge amounts of money.

Mayor Johnson, who has vowed to oppose President-elect Trump’s deportation of illegal immigrants, is trying to win A $1 billion budget deficit at the end of the year.
“It’s out of hand,” Leigh said. “Chicago has regressed quickly, especially on the South and West sides of Chicago because of all the money stolen from the immigration scam. They thought they were going to be able to bring illegal immigrants into our communities and we were going to allow that.”

“Now they’re all over the place because they don’t have the money to close this situation or spend this in Chicago.”

Trump’s border chief, Tom Homan, has been a staunch champion of the administration’s immigration policies. The former ICE director even sent a warning to Chicago, the city Homan says will be the first to see deportations.
“Chicago is in trouble because your mayor eats and your governor eats. And we’re going to start right here in Chicago, Illinois,” Homan said during the event Thursday.
“Now, if your mayor of Chicago doesn’t want to help, he can step aside. But if he prevents us, if he intentionally arrests or harbors an illegal alien, I will prosecute him,” he threatened.
