American couple killed in Mexico, found shot in truck: officials
Two Americans from California have died after they were found shot to death in a pickup truck in Mexico, officials said.
Authorities found Gloria Ambriz, 50, and Rafael Cardona, 53, when they responded to a report of a shooting in Angamacutiro in western Michoacán state Wednesday night, according to Fox News affiliate KTTV, citing the state attorney’s office.
The couple, who were on vacation visiting family, were traveling in a black Ford Platinum 2016 truck when the gunmen opened fire near the intersection.
Ambriz was pronounced dead at the scene, while Cardona succumbed to her injuries shortly after being taken to a hospital in Puruándiro, officials said.

Investigators found evidence at the scene, which is being processed as part of the ongoing investigation.

Michoacán is on Mexico’s “no-go” list, according to the US State Department.
“Violent crime—such as murder, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery—is rampant and common in Mexico,” the agency noted. “The US government has limited ability to provide emergency services to US citizens in many areas of Mexico, as the movement of US government personnel to certain areas is restricted or restricted. In many states, local emergency services are limited outside the capital or major cities.”
