The Defense Ministry on Thursday said it has struck a Rs 13,500 crore deal with aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) to buy 12 Sukhoi jets.
The plane will have a domestic content of 62.6 percent, it said.
Su-30MKI jets from Russia are being purchased by the Indian Air Force. These jets are now manufactured by HAL under the framework of government agencies.
“MoD has signed a ?13,500 Cr deal with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (#HAL) to buy 12 Su-30MKI fighter jets. These planes will have 62.6 percent domestic content, with key components to be produced in India #defenseindustry ,” said the department. of ‘X’.
“This marks another milestone in India’s journey towards #selfreliance, enhancing the capabilities of our #armedforce,” it said.
