“This Mother***er Had to Kill Me to Stop Me”: Tim Tszyu Opens Up About Loss and Redemption
Breaking his silence after being brutally beaten in the third round, Tim Tszyu has gone public with his second career defeat. Talking to Fox News Australiathe Aussie fighter revealed shocking details about his physical and emotional recovery. “I couldn’t feel my legs well, and my brain was racing. Every time I was hit with a gun, I felt like a bomb was going off,” said Tszyu, remembering the war. “In my head, I thought, ‘This mother**** is going to have to kill me to get me out of here.'”
The fight ended when Tszyu was knocked down four times, the first being hit in the head. He spent the whole night in the hospital, he couldn’t even sleep. “It was a strange feeling,” he said. “What bothers me is that I couldn’t prove myself. I was just embarrassed and ashamed in front of the whole world.”
Adding to the frustration, Tszyu’s fiancee, Alex, endured abuse from trolls. “People say things to him and the like, but his ability to handle that shows his character,” he said. “Not to my miss, not to my family. That’s not right.”
Despite the obstacles, Tszyu remains defiant. “I don’t know how many times I was hit, but no matter what happened, I always got up. I was ready to die there,” he said.
Now, Tszyu wants to reconnect with his roots and Australian fans. “I want to bring you back to the old school—no technology, no math, no numbers. Just pure grinding. “I feel like I left my Aussie fans behind to chase the stars,” he admitted. “Australia has always been in my heart.”
And he couldn’t help jab at American coffee: “You can’t find good coffee in Vegas. I missed my dog, my missus, the fresh Aussie air, and my local coffee shop.”
