PlayStation Plus’ Game Catalog additions for December include Forspoken, Sonic Frontiers and VR Star Wars.
Make your holiday plans now, because Sony has more games joining the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog starting in December. The biggest highlight of PlayStation Plus Premium and additional subscribers is a parkour and magic-filled RPG released by Square Enix in 2023. We didn’t think the PS5 game fully matched the visuals of other similar games while we’re reviewing it, but the holiday season seems like the perfect time to wander around and check out some spells.
With a unique perspective of running and jumping in an open world, Sonic Frontiers rejoins the catalog. The game features high-speed platforming with a Wild Spirit-inspired open world full of enemies and collectibles. If you’re missing more of the traditional Sonic experience, there are bespoke challenge levels inspired by past Sonic games to go through.
Both of those games should hopefully have a meaningful time, but it’s the two additions that caught my eye the most Space for the Unincarcerated again Coffee Talk. I have heard nothing but good things about it Space for the Unincarcerated since it came out in 2023, due to its unique setting in “late 90s rural Indonesia.” “It’s a slice-of-life adventure game,” according to Sony, but with some supernatural elements for added drama. Coffee Talk has been running since 2020, and has shared cultural DNA since its developer, Toge Productions, was published. It is not tied down and based in Indonesia. Coffee Talk is a visual novel about running a coffee shop where you talk to customers about their problems and make them drinks, a fun premise for the game.
Rounding out the new additions to the catalog is a grab bag of sequences, racing games, multiplayer puzzle games, and more than one title where you play as a rabbit: Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly, Rabbi: Party of Legends, WRC Generations, GUARANTEE: Formed in the Shadows, Jurassic World Evolution 2, PHOGS again Biped.
If you’re a PlayStation Plus Premium subscriber, and like me, you want to dust off your PSVR 2, Sony is also throwing . It’s a virtual reality experience that gives you a sample of Star Wars things to do in “embedded” first person, like training to become a Jedi, blasting enemies, and navigating droids. It’s more expensive to “live” Star Wars than to go to Disneyland.
Premium members will also be able to stream a few new games in the Classic Catalog, with a shared theme of PlayStation’s mascot duos: Sly Cooper 2: A gang of thieves, Sly Cooper 3: Fame Among Thievesagain Jak and Daxter: The First Legacy. I’m a fan of Ratchet & Clank, but this is a great opportunity to play the first ever Jak and Daxter game.
PS Plus Premium subscribers and more will be able to play these games from December 17th. If you’ve signed up for Premium through the PlayStation Portal, you’ll be able to stream some of them directly to your handheld as part of the.
