‘Duck Dynasty’ star Phil Robertson forces himself to eat as he battles Alzheimer’s disease, plans to ‘keep the faith’
“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson will continue to “fight” as he battles anorexia after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
In the most recent episode of the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast, Phil’s son, Jase, shared his father’s wishes to thank fans for their outpouring of prayers. Jase noted that his father is keeping “faith” as he battles his diagnosis.
Phil’s other son, Alan Robertson, was also on the podcast episode and explained that he told his wife, Lisa, that he didn’t expect his father to get the response he got after sharing that his health was declining.
“The outpouring of love, support, prayer … it’s almost overwhelming,” Alan said.

Jase noted that the first episode of the podcast that announced Phil’s discovery was released a few days after he recorded it. When the podcast went live, Phil was able to experience a moment of “relief” from the constant pain and loss of appetite he was experiencing.
“The outpouring of love, support, prayer … almost overwhelmed me.”
“During that little period of transition, Phil had a little pain, you know, his pain. Although his conditions are still the same, he just felt better. We went down to lunch with him, you know, Missy and I, because, you know, if you bring him a really good meal, you can persuade him to eat, Jase said.
Jase noted that due to his father’s health condition, he is “not hungry” and has to “make his own food.”
“I really feel like it was just prayers,” Jase said of his father’s sudden growth. “Because you know, he’s been losing weight for months.”
Jase noted that before the podcast episode aired, Phil was “at a very low point in this whole process.”
“It was the first time I saw some improvement. He felt better. We had a good conversation, and he was keeping up with the conversation,” commented Jase.
Since Phil was feeling better after the podcast was released on Friday, he decided to go to church on Sunday.
“He didn’t do much, and he didn’t say much. But he came for an hour,” Jase said.

Jase noted that he was saddened by the messages he received after sharing his father’s illness. Donald Trump Jr. you are very bright.
“You know the son of the President-elect,” he said. “I just lost my strength. We really appreciate the prayers.”
On Friday’s episode of the “Unashy with the Robertson Family” podcast, Jase revealed the diagnosis.
“Phil is not doing well. I think I talked about 1,000 podcasts. We were trying to get a diagnosis. But, according to the doctors, he has a certain blood disease that causes all kinds of problems,” said Jase.

“It’s like speeding up, and it’s causing problems with his whole body. And he’s got early stages of Alzheimer’s. So, when you put those things together, he’s not doing really well. He’s struggling.”
Phil was a big part of the “Unashamed” podcast, but due to his declining health, “he can’t sit down and talk,” Jase revealed. He also noted that, these days, his father cannot walk without “crying in pain.”
“He remembers it. He remembers the stories we tell,” Jase said on the podcast.

Jase noted that the medical team told him and his family that “there is no cure for what” Phil has.
“We’re trying to make him a little more comfortable,” he said.
In the podcast episode, Jase noted that the Robertson family appreciates the prayers and support being sent Phil’s way.
