Salesforce Chairman and CEO Marc Benioff on the company’s growth, the impact of AI on sales, customer relations and acquisitions.
Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff defended his support for President-elect Trump, saying it’s only fair to want the president to succeed.
Although Benioff hasn’t publicly said who he voted for, he told the San Francisco Chronicle that he believes it’s important to stand behind whoever wins the election.
“I feel like if we’re electing a new politician we should fully support him — he’s our president now,” Benioff said Monday. “This is the moment when we turn the page. … It’s an opportunity for a new chapter.”
Benioff emphasized that “we continue to be the greatest leaders in the world” and thinks that “we only have to want our president to succeed.”

While optimistic about Trump’s prospects, Benioff previously supported Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and has advocated for progressive policies, such as raising taxes on big business. He added that his company would pay to relocate workers if they felt threatened “regardless of their political status.”
However, because of Trump’s victory, he expressed interest in SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, whom he called “the Edison of our time,” to get involved in efforts to reduce government spending.
“If I had one political position to describe, I would say that (a tight fiscal bond) is very important,” Benioff said. “I feel like that should be a joint issue.”

“We are at the center of what may be the greatest revolution of our lifetime,” he said. “We should all be very excited about the future of our city.”
“I think few countries are as well positioned for the future as the United States,” Benioff added. “Other countries wonder how they can be a great country like us.”
Benioff has moved away from making political endorsements since buying Time Magazine in 2018. However, he has commented on political issues in X.

In October, he called out Vice President Kamala Harris for refusing to speak to Time Magazine despite the publication giving her a cover story. Benioff revealed that President Biden and Trump have both been willing to hold talks in the past.

“Despite multiple requests, Time was not allowed to interview Kamala Harris — unlike every other candidate for President,” Benioff wrote in X. “We believe in transparency and publish each interview in full. Why doesn’t the Vice President engage with the public on the same level?”
