Promoter Eddie Hearn blew his stack last Saturday night due to the flak he received online from fans over two of his Matchroom prospects, Jalil Hackett and Marc Castro, being beaten on a DAZN card in San Juan, Puerto Rico .
Castro and Hackett Exposed
Hearn was in form, hustling for six full minutes with the title and looking like he needed to be put to sleep. I do not know why. It was obvious that Castro and Hackett were going to lose because they are NOT great talents. It is surprising that both were beaten on the same night by the second division. How could Hearn know?
Welterweight Hackett (9-1, 7 KOs) lost a 10-round decision to 31-year-old Puerto Rican fighter Jose Roman Vazquez (14-1, 6 KOs). This should have been a piece of cake for the 21-year-old Hackett, but man, was he quickly caught by Vazquez and taken out in the second half of the fight.
Lightweight Marc Castro (13-1, 8 KOs) defeated Agustin Ezequiel Quintana (21-2-1, 13 KOs) by a 10-round split decision. Castro was knocked out by Quintana in the eighth round and did not appear to be world class.

If you can’t beat those guys, it’s not, or you weren’t good enough tonight,” said Eddie Hearn on iFL TV, reacting to Matchroom fighters Marc Castro and Jalil Hackett losing upset last Saturday night in Puerto. Hearn has to show tough love by putting his fighters in sink or swim situations, and if they can’t hold it, quit. He should keep the Matchroom soft and gentle with skilled fighters. If they can’t meet the standards, they have to go.

“You don’t just make matchups that are s*** that you can’t lose. The *** of sports. It’s a *** of hope,” Hearn said.
This won’t be the last time Hackett is beaten if Hearn matches him with fighters of lesser talent. He’s not good enough. Even when Hackett was fighting low-level fodder, he was taking a lot of shots, and I was like, ‘This guy is headed for defeat if Hearn takes him out of his defense.’ Sure, it happened, and Eddie is going to get in trouble for it.
