NZXT’s Flex PC rental is ‘misleading’ and ‘predatory,’ says Gamer Nexus.

Gamer Nexus released a video debunking NZXT’s purchase of the Flex gaming PC and rental program. In it, host Steve Burke says the company is still misleading customers, despite the changes made regarding his previous video in which he called the program a “scam.”

NZXT said in its response this week that it would clarify details about its Flex system, which Gamers Nexus criticized for having details that could sometimes change “from day to day.” The company appeared to be updating the data and performance numbers of its purchase order. But Gamers Nexus reports that it’s still seeing issues like consistent FPS numbers and an FAQ explaining NZXT’s best-selling Gamer: Three Prime build uses an RTX 4090 graphics card, despite its specs saying otherwise.

The FAQ entry that Burke was talking about seems to be gone now, but as of this writing, there is still a post titled “Which GPU is right for me?” listing the RTX 4090 and its advantages. Such inconsistencies are a problem for potential customers, Burke said.

The fact that NZXT misrepresented its product, even after its statement, that it has a 4090 when it still has a 4080 Super… seems to indicate that even NZXT can’t keep up with its specs changes. If NZXT can’t keep up with it…how does it expect the customer to keep up?

Gamers Nexus offers other criticisms of the company’s rental system, from “improper packaging” damage charges with high limits that exceed the cost of similar non-rental PC models to creator-based ad videos that continue to exist, despite what the company says. “it pulled all of Flex’s influencer-led advertising.” NZXT did not immediately respond to our request for comment on the new video.

Gamers Nexus said Thursday it was working on an in-depth investigation, and its video today concluded with Burke saying it received “several tips about” former employees and customers.
